    Trail Description

The Golden Cathedral and Neon Canyon

The Mossy Cave Trail begins at the northern end of Bryce Canyon National Park, just off Scenic Byway 12. Unlike many hikes in the park, this one starts with a gentle climb and ends with a descent. The trail follows a firm, native sediment path alongside a creek that winds through stunning red rock formations.

Along the way, you’ll encounter two highlights:

    • The Mossy Cave – a grotto where water seeps through sandstone, creating lush moss growth in summer and dramatic icicles in winter.

    • A Seasonal Waterfall – flows impressively in spring and early summer as snowmelt feeds the creek.

What You’ll See Along the Way

    • Red rock hoodoos and canyon scenery

    • A flowing creek with small cascades

    • A seasonal waterfall

    • The shady Mossy Cave grotto
